Kaucja.pl and Omecon are jointly developing a deposit scheme in Poland – launching on 1 October

Key findings

  • Omecon’s technology forms the digital foundation for managing DRS processes at Kaucja.pl.
  • The solution integrates packaging records, operations, logistics and accounting.
  • The scalable architecture allows the system to be expanded as the number of participants and the scale of operations grow.

On 1 October 2025, a deposit-return scheme covering plastic and glass bottles and metal cans will come into force in Poland. One of the key players in this process is Kaucja.pl, which, in collaboration with Omecon, is implementing the &UP® platform as the foundation for the digital management of Deposit Return System (DRS) processes. The solution will enable comprehensive tracking of packaging, automated settlement of accounts and integration with partners and logistics operators.

A new standard in the management of deposit schemes

Kaucja.pl – Krajowy System Kaucyjny S.A. – is one of the first companies in Poland to be preparing for the full implementation of a deposit-refund scheme, as required by environmental and statutory regulations. The company was established by Poland’s largest beverage producers: Coca-Cola HBC Polska, Colian, the Maspex Group, Nałęczów Zdrój, Nestlé Polska, Oshee Polska, PepsiCo Polska, Red Bull, Van Pur, Zbyszko Company and Żywiec Zdrój. Its aim is to create a solution that will connect all links in the market chain – from retailers and logistics operators to manufacturers and consumers.

In collaboration with Omecon, the &UP® platform is being rolled out, which will form the digital foundation of the deposit-refund system. Thanks to this, market participants will gain a tool for transparent planning and control of operations, whilst the process of returning and settling packaging will be simple, more predictable and compliant with regulatory requirements.

“The deposit-refund system is a massive organisational and technological undertaking that must operate smoothly from day one. That is why we attach such great importance to building a solid digital foundation. Together with Omecon, we are implementing the &UP® platform, which will not only enable us to handle day-to-day record-keeping and settlement processes, but will also ensure scalability and flexibility as the entire system develops. Our aim is to make the return and reuse of packaging as simple and transparent as possible for consumers and business partners. Thanks to this, the deposit-refund system will become a practical tool supporting the circular economy in Poland.”
– says Robert Kucharczyk, CIO of Kaucja.pl.

Technology tailored to business realities

“We are building a solution that addresses specific business needs. The &UP® platform covers the functionality of a DRS (Deposit Return System), making it well-suited to managing deposit-return processes – from accepting packaging, through its recording, to settlement. We believe that our proprietary solution will contribute to the effective achievement of environmental and regulatory objectives – without causing undue complications for users,
” concludes Jacek Zacharewicz, Business Development Manager at Omecon.

Flexibility and scalability as a key advantage

The performance characteristics and extensive customisation options of the &UP® platform allow
the system to be tailored to individual business requirements. This is particularly important in the context of the growing scale of operations related to the reuse of packaging, its transport and settlement.
